High-school wrap-up: Conestoga girls' lacrosse squad downs Penncrest

Girls' lacrosse

Conestoga defeated Penncrest, 18-5, Thursday. The Pioneers were led by Gettysburg-bound senior Taylor Lawlor (four goals, two assists), junior Kelly Morrison (three goals, two assists), sophomore Meghan McGillis (three goals, one assist), sophomore Claire Jackson (two goals, one assist), freshman Abby Lord (two goals), junior Britta Hjelm (two goals), senior captain Brooke McGillis (one goal) and senior K.T. Mallory (one goal).

Goalies Sarah Priem and Emily Omrod combined for eight saves. The defense was led by senior captain Taylor King (one caused turnover), junior Emily Pillion (James Madison) and Allison Henry (William and Mary).

Conestoga coach Amy Orcutt said, "The girls came out today ready to play. They have been working really hard in practice, and it was nice to see them take everything that we have been working on and apply it to a game situation."

Stoga battles back to defeat Harriton

Conestoga girls staked Harriton to a 4-0 lead in their girls lacrosse match up Thursday afternoon at Teamer field. Slowly Conestoga fought back taking a 7-5 lead and never looking back as they defeated the Rams 11-9.

Harriton ended a 7 game winning streak.

Britta Hjelm had four goals and two assists and Conestoga rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to claim a key 11-9 victory over visiting Harriton today in a Central League girls' lacrosse game involving to undefeated teams.

The Pioneers improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the league. The Rams fell to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the league.

Taylor Lawlor added two goals for Conestoga while Meghan McGillis and Brooke McGillis each had a goal and two assists. Sarah Priem made nine saves.
